A few more greens and a few more herbs....

If we only took a few lessons from our horsey friends. To eat, like them, more greens, more herbs to help ourselves feel fit, nourished, supplemented and strong.

I have had a pretty crazy relationship with food all my life but after completing my IIN health coach training and facing a diagnosis of Lupus, my relationship with food has been nothing but respect. When we eat well, by that I mean REAL foods, we FEEL well. When we grab and go and eat processed foods, which are mostly chemicals and fortified ingredients, we no longer thrive but simply survive.

I watch the herd grazing, selecting specific bits of grass as they meander onwards. I watch them select from a choice of herbs, taking what they need and leaving what they don't. This in itself is a new concept for many of us humans... how do they know what they need when we don't, very often, have a clue! But the truth is the more connected we come to who we are, removing stressors, chemicals and any abusive relationship with stimulants, food or people, we remember what we need, what supports us and what does not. Nature offers us everything to help us come back into balance. Whether it be Milk thistle to help our livers detox; Dandelion to support the detoxification process as well as feed us with minerals, it is rich in Potassium and great for gut health; Or Burdock root rich in antioxidants and supportive in cleansing our blood. All these herbs, and many others support our overall being as well as supporting the wellbeing of our horses. Like horses needing the benefits of grass, we too need the benefits of greens. The more greens we eat the more Alkaline our body, the less acidic our body the less inflammation. Inflammation leads to dis- ease. Greens help us keep a strong digestive tract, detox on a cellular level ( Spirulina, barley grass and chlorella all especially good at supporting this), supplement us with all the vitamins and minerals we need to remain strong and it goes on....

So, yeah the message is clear... we must eat our greens. Eat fresh.... Eat real food and learn from our horses... to connect back into what our bodies need... more fruit? More Veg? More Greens? More organic grass fed meat? More (but not too much) wholegrain? No plastic, no packaging and no chemicals in that!

May you all be fit, loving, freeing and happy.
